Our Story Who We Are

On The Floor® (OTF) is dedicated to hosting a family-friendly, state-of-the art dance competition that leaves all participants feeling motivated and inspired.

Our commitment to unique concepts and high-quality adjudication sets us apart as the industry’s premier dance competition. Founded by Mitchell Jackson and Lisa Hupé, OTF was born from their shared dream of creating a competition like no other.

Since its establishment in 2012, OTF has strived to provide a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all participants. With a passion for dance and a vision to offer aspiring dancers opportunities to win scholarships to prestigious institutions, Mitchell and Lisa have curated a competition that also allows participants to connect with and learn from industry professionals.

Building a strong team has been instrumental in making OTF Canada’s leading dance competition. Mitchell and Lisa have assembled a faculty of top professionals in the industry, creating a wealth of opportunities for OTF competitors.

A dance competition that is so much more than just a competition!

Not only do dancers have an opportunity to showcase their talent in an organized and supportive environment, but On The Floor realizes the importance of continued training and offers both workshops and scholarships to assist young dancers. Regional winners even get a chance to perform at a live event! And it doesn’t stop there – even studios can benefit by opting to choose to make charitable donations in lieu of receiving trophies. OTF has thought of every little detail – including on-site hair salon services for quick hair changes! Need I say more?

Mitchell and Lisa are two of the most professional people that I know. They have been working so hard on this project and I am so proud to be a part of it. When Lisa and Mitchell started telling me details of this wonderful project all I could think of was how I wished they had something like this when I was growing up. This competition is going to be great for meeting tons of new people, working with talented choreographers, and of course having so much fun.
